In 1933, the first Drive-In theatre was built in New Jersey by Richard Hollingshead.   This year, 2008, marks the 75th Anniversary of the Drive-in theatre!

The 88 Drive-In Theatre
was built in 1972, and in 1976, our family purchased The 88 Drive-In Theatre.

Denver Drive-Ins (1976): In 1976, the Denver-metro area had 14 Drive-In movie theatres.  Here are the theatres you may remember: The Lakeshore, The NorthStar, The West, The East 70, The Havana Drive-In, The South Drive-In, The Evans Drive-In, The North Drive-In, The Monaco Drive-In, The Nor-West, The Cinderella Twin, The Holiday Twin (Boulder), The Wadsworth Drive-In, and The 88 Drive-In Theatre.

Denver Drive-Ins (2007): In 2007, only 2 Drive-In Theatres were still open in the Denver-metro area.  Now, there is only one: The 88 Drive-In Theatre!  The other Drive-In, The Cinderella Twin Drive-In Theater was torn down to make way for more housing and Strip Malls, and another landmark of Americana met its doom!

Tradition: We hope to continue the American tradition, and provide an affordable movie experience for the entire family!  You, our customers, are most important to us, so we hope to be here for many years!

Future: The future of movies is Digital Cinema.  Soon, all movie film and projectors will be replaced by digital MPEGs on a hard drive and a complex digital projector.  The technology is expensive (over $150,000), so we hope to upgrade in the near future.

Projecting the Past;Entertaining the Future: Want to make sure the Drive-In is still around for your children?  Simple!  Purchase some items from the Snack Bar!  The movie studios demand most of the ticket money, so the Drive-In theatre survives on Snack Bar sales!  Yes, it's true!  Hollywood is greedy, so they take most of the profits—that's why so few Drive-In theatres still stand.  SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL DRIVE-IN THEATRE; BUY YOUR FOOD & DRINKS AT THE SNACK BAR!

Thank you for your patronage, and we hope to be here for many years!
